The Prairie Fire's defensive stopper is one of six players in the nation to be named as a sports media site's player of the week.

Junior linebacker Mike Hendrick (Smithton, IL, Freeburg High School) set a new school record with 26 tackles against Beloit College on September 24 at the Knosher Bowl.  The leading tackler in the Midwest Conference, Hendrick broke the previous record of 23 tackles established by Del Camp in October of 1968 against Grinnell College.

Hendrick has been named as a Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Defensive Player of the Week for his big game against the Buccaneers.  The award is an honor given to only six defensive players in the country at the NCAA Division III level.

Twelve of Hendrick's 26 tackles were solo stops, which ranks second all-time at Knox.  Hendrick owns the record of 14, which he set in October of 2010 at Illinois College.  His 14 assisted tackles ranks fifth all-time in Knox football history.

Joining Hendrick as a BSN Defensive Player of the Week are two other linebackers -- Patrick McDonough of Muhlenberg and Kevin Nossem of Case Western Reserve.  The three other players selected are defensive lineman Kevin Eagan of Endicott, defensive back Cam Evans of Bates, and safety Drew Peterson of Albright.

BSN is a sports media site that features colleges and players from the FCS, Division II, Division III, and NAIA levels.

Hendrick and the Prairie Fire travel to Ripon College (3-1, 2-1 MWC) for a Midwest Conference game on October 1 at 1:00 p.m.
