Galesburg, IL – The Prairie Fire used a big offensive run in the first half to cruise past Lawrence University 98-80 Friday at Memorial Gym.
Knox (3-12, 3-7 MWC) outscored the Vikings (1-13, 1-8 MWC) 59-30 in the first half. Leading 18-14 at the 8:59 mark, the Fire made its move by stringing together a 28-9 run to extend the advantage to 46-23 with 4:55 left in the first half.
Lawrence, meanwhile, committed 16 turnovers in the first half and 48 overall. The Vikings shot 51 percent in the second half and 46 percent overall. Knox connected on 32 percent in the game but made 11 buckets from 3-point range to five for Lawrence and held a 27-17 advantage at the foul line. The Fire also outrebounded the Vikings 55-39.
Senior Krystyna Williams (Evanston, IL, Evanston Township) led Knox with 18 points and 10 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season. Senior Abby Owens (Grinnell, IA, Grinnell) added 17 points, including five 3-pointers.
Alex Deshler had a double-double for Lawrence with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds.
The teams split the season series after Lawrence beat the Prairie Fire at home in the first meeting on December 13.
Knox goes for a second straight win and a season sweep of Beloit College at home on Saturday at 1:00.
