Galesburg, IL – A solid week by a women’s basketball player, including a big game that helped her team earn a conference victory, is the latest recipient of an athletic honor.
Sophomore guard Jodi Marver (Northbrook, IL, Glenbrook North) scored a career-high 21 points as Knox posted a 90-79 Midwest Conference win at Lawrence University on December 1 in Appleton, Wisconsin. She’s been named the winner of the Prairie Fire Performer of the Week Award.
Marver got off to a hot start against the Vikings, scoring 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range, in just 11 minutes of play in the first half. She was instrumental in Knox building a 47-31 lead at the intermission.
Marver has scored in double-figures in four of the Prairie Fire’s first five games. She’s averaging a team-high 14 points per game, which is tied for third in the Midwest Conference.
Marver, in her previous two games last week, averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals while making five 3-pointers and sinking 10-of-14 free throws.
