Galesburg, IL – A runner for the track and field and cross country teams while attending Knox College, Karen Brophy continues to compete at an extremely high level.

Brophy, a 2009 Knox graduate, was a member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams, as well as the cross country teams at Knox.  She holds several all-time top 10 records in track and top 25 marks in cross country.

A story in the Galesburg Register-Mail on April 14, 2012 highlighted Brophy’s second trip to Boston to run in the city’s famous marathon on April 16.  (permission received from the R-M to use)

Brophy holds a combined 17 all-time top 10 marks at Knox in indoor track, outdoor track, and cross country.  She ran several events, including the 3000 meter steeplechase, the 3000 meter run, the 5K, and the 10K.

As a student-athlete at Knox, Brophy established the second fastest time in the 3000 meter steeplechase (:13:05.59) in 2009.  She also owns four of the 10 fastest times on record in the event – third, four, fifth, and ninth place – all set in 2009.
