Galesburg, IL – A Prairie Fire defensive standout has been named to a third preseason All-American football team.

USA Football News selected Mike Hendrick (Smithton, IL, Freeburg), a senior linebacker, as a member of its 2012 USA College Football Division III Preseason All-American First Team defense.  USA Football News also picked him as a Central Region All-Star.

Hendrick averaged 15.7 tackles per game to lead the nation last season.  He also set new school records for tackles in a season (157), solo tackles in a season (75), and tackles in a game (26).

Hendrick earlier this summer was named a 2012 preseason first-team All-American by Beyond Sports Network (BSN) and a second team All-American by D3football.com.

The USA College Football preseason All-American and regional all-star teams were selected by coaches, sports information directors, certified players’ agents, pro scouts, national media reporters, and USA Football News staff.
