Grinnell, IA – The Prairie Fire broke two school records and won five events during the ACM Invitational on Saturday at Grinnell College.
The Knox men’s team scored 89 points and finished fourth while the Knox women’s squad tallied 69 points and placed third in the team standings. Carleton College won the men’s meet and Grinnell took first in the women’s meet.
Senior Joe Puntoriero (Cheektowaga, NY, Cleveland Hill) broke two of his own records that he set earlier this season in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meters.
He qualified in the 60 meters with a time of :07.21, which is tied for #4 on the all-time top 10 performance list. Puntoriero followed with a first place finish in :07:13 in the finals to set a new record in the event, besting his previous fastest time of :07.16.
Puntoriero also topped the record he set on January 19 in the 200 meters. He placed first in :22.56 two weeks after breaking a record that stood since 1999 with his time of :22.77.
Senior Sean Choate (Chicago, IL, Chicago Academy ) ran the fastest time of his career in the 3000 meters. He finished second in the race in 9:05.16, which is #5 on the all-time performance list and #3 on the all-time individual list.
First-year Victor Schultz (Staunton, VA, Robert E Lee) moved up to #6 on the all-time individual list in the mile. He ran the race in 4:49.73, beating his previous season-best time of 4:51.10 – which was #9 on the all-time individual list.
Schultz finished first in the 5000 meter race, completing it in 17:01.63.
The other event winner for the Prairie Fire men’s team was junior Weston Chenoweth (Canton, IL, Canton). He placed first in the shot put with his throw of 43’ 7”.

Mickella Duffy-Webb (Colorado Springs, CO, William J Palmer) finished second in the 3000 meters in 11:53.90 for the Knox women's team.
Her time ranks #8 on the all-time individual list.
Senior Lizzy Warner (Champaign, IL, University Laboratory) won an event for the Prairie Fire. She placed first in the 800 meters in a time of 2:34.47.
