The Prairie Fire volleyball team expects to achieve positive results in 2013 through attention to detail and a commitment to hard work.

Under the direction of second-year head coach Shayla Chalker, the squad is a young team with only three upperclasswomen among the 13 players on the roster. Chalker said the squad's two seniors set the tone with their strong leadership. "Kaylie Prince and Amber Eisha will continue to push the team and each other to be the best that we can be."

Another experienced returner is sophomore setter Casey Stachelski, who started every match in 2012. Chalker believes Stachelski will continue to grow, along with the rest of the squad. "As a coach you have high expectations every year, but improvement is the key. Last year we worked extremely hard on changing the culture, and I think this year we're going to continue that, along with focusing on mentally tough, fundamental volleyball."

The Prairie Fire meets Lincoln Christian University to open the season on August 31 at 9:30 a.m. in the Monmouth College Tournament.
