Box Score

Galesburg, IL – The Prairie Fire rolled off a sixth straight win with a 4-1 triumph over Robert Morris University – Springfield on Sunday at Jorge Prats Field.

The victory didn't come easy for Knox, which at times played through heavy rain and had to remain collected in a physical match.  The officials doled out four yellow and two red cards against RMU.

The Prairie Fire (6-1) took a 1-0 lead when sophomore Nathaniel Logie (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Queens Royal College), who entered the contest with four goals in his last two matches, scored at the 15:16 mark.  Sophomore Abdulsalam Oganla (Lagos, Nigeria, The International Academy) assisted on the goal.

Oganla gave Knox a 2-0 lead when he scored on an assist from Logie 15:00 later.

Robert Morris (3-4) pressed on and scored on a penalty kick at 38:31 to cut the Prairie Fire advantage in half at 2-1.
Neither team scored again before the break and Knox maintained the one goal advantage.

Knox added two goals in less than a minute for some breathing room.

Sophomore Charlie Harned (Webster Groves, MO, Clayton) tapped in a long shot by junior Jacob Polay (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) that appeared to be headed into the net without any help to extend the Prairie Fire lead to 3-1 at the 60:57 mark.

Sophomore Charles Edemba (Abia, Nigeria, Santana Rhetoric Institute) scored his first goal of the season, assisted by senior Maxwell Gatyas (Plymouth, WI, Plymouth Comprehensive), at 61:47 to put Knox on top 4-1.

The Prairie Fire took 29 shots in the match, including 10 on goal.  The Eagles took six shots, five of them on goal.
Knox keeper Sean Dockrell (Dublin, Ireland, San Bernadino CC) had four saves.  He's won all six of his starts in goal so far this season.

The Prairie Fire have already matched last year's win total and are one shy of tying the most victories by the team in 14 years.

The 1999 Knox squad had an overall record of 7-8-1, including a 4-5 mark in Midwest Conference play that resulted in a three-way tie for fourth place with Monmouth College and Lake Forest College.

Lake Forest earned the fourth and final spot in the Midwest Conference tournament that year by virtue of a tiebreaker.

The Prairie Fire try for their seventh win in a row on September 28 at home against MacMurray College at 4:00.
Knox and the Highlanders will play for the traveling Ferris Trophy, which the Prairie Fire currently possesses after winning last year's match 7-1 in Jacksonville, Illinois.
