GALESBURG, Illinois – A Prairie Fire football player is being recognized by the Midwest Conference following a dominant performance in a win over the weekend.
First-year running back
Terry White (Hillsdale, IL, Riverdale) broke out with 176 yards rushing on only 15 carries and scored three touchdowns in a
45-14 victory against Lawrence University last Saturday on Stisser Field at the Knosher Bowl.
White has been selected as the Midwest Conference Football Offensive Performer of the Week for his efforts against the Vikings.
White began a huge afternoon against Lawrence by busting loose for a 21-yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left in the first quarter. He followed with a 47-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter that gave the Prairie Fire a 21-0 lead. White added a 67-yard rushing touchdown, his third score of the day, with 11:18 to play in the game.
White caught a 26-yard pass as well to finish the game with 202 of Knox's 502 total yards of offense against Lawrence.
White burned the Vikings for 11.7 yards per carry, which ranks fifth in Knox football history for rushing average in a game. His three touchdowns also tie him for seventh place all-time for rushing TDs in a game.
White has rushed for 313 yards and scored four touchdowns through the Prairie Fire's first three games. He's averaging 6.3 yards per carry and 104.3 rushing yards per game so far this season.

Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) received honorable mention accolades for the MWC special teams performer of the week. Sykes had a perfect day, going six-for-six on extra point attempts and connecting on a 24-yard field goal in the Prairie Fire's win over Lawrence. Sykes also had eight kickoffs that averaged 61.8 yards, including two touchbacks. His six PAT kicks rank in a tie for the fourth-most in the history of the football program.
Knox (2-1) tries for a second straight win on Saturday at Macalester College at 1:00 p.m. The Fighting Scots (2-1) won 21-16 at Grinnell College last Saturday.
