Blodgett Field
QA
Blodgett Field is a symmetrical field that contains its own internal sprinkler system. It measures 310 feet down the left and right field lines and 400 feet to center field.
The original soil composition of the field was identical to that of Wrigley Field, but was later changed to allow for better drainage. Games can now be played just hours after all but the heaviest rainfall. Blodgett Field is named after Thomas H. Blodgett, an 1899 Knox graduate and former trustee of the College who donated the funds for its construction in 1963.
Recent improvements to the venue have included fencing in front of both dugouts and additional benches (2010), replacement of the dirt baselines with grass (2013), re-sodded edges of the infield (2013), a new Evergreen Batter's Eye (2014), a windscreen for the outfield fence (2015), laser-graded infield dirt (2018), and re-sodded the infield grass (2019).
