Stisser Field at the Knosher Bowl

Knosher Bowl

One of the most unique college football stadiums in the nation, the Knosher Bowl - named in honor of longtime Knox coach and athletic director Harley Knosher, provides excellent facilities for athletes and spectators alike.

Construction of the original bowl began in 1963 and the first Knox team played at the venue in 1967.  Featuring banked, bowl-shaped sides, the Knosher Bowl still retains much of its original charm while boasting one of the best playing surfaces in NCAA Division III.  The natural grass field at the former Knox Bowl was replaced with artificial turf in 2008 as part of a $1.8-million renovation project that also included new goal posts, fencing, gates, and an entry area.  The Oberembt Amenities Center, located inside the Knosher Bowl, was dedicated in October of 2009 in honor of former Knox football coach and player, Randy Oberembt '76.  The facility provides space for food preparation and concessions, restrooms, a covered picnic area, and storage.  The football field bears the name of longtime Knox trustee and donor, Vernon Stisser '62.  A formal dedication of Stisser Field was held in October of 2012 during Homecoming.

The Knosher Bowl has a seating capacity of 6,000. The record for attendance was set at the 100th Bronze Turkey game between Knox and Monmouth College (the fourth-oldest rivalry in Division III) when attendance reached the 6,000 mark.
