Amy Beuschlein was two-year letterwinner for both the women’s soccer and softball teams at Knox. She was instrumental in starting the women’s soccer team.

When Beuschlein came to Knox in the fall of 1985, there was no women’s soccer team. She made it her mission to start a team. She worked closely with Jorge Prats, Harley Knosher, and classmate Tonya Laubach to lay the groundwork for the team to begin play in the fall of 1987. The program started with a small number of students, whom Amy recruited by putting up posters around campus. She worked with Jorge Prats to develop team practices, philosophies, and schedules. The team achieved varsity status in 1987 and joined the Midwest Conference the following year.

Beuschlein earned All-Midwest Conference Honorable Mention honors for women’s soccer in her senior season, the only season she was eligible for the award. The women’s soccer team won six games in her two-year career and she scored three career goals and recorded one assist as a midfielder. Beuschlein won the Jorge Prats Award in 1988.

Since graduating from Knox, Beuschlein has gone on to have a celebrated career as a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and a Colonel in the Army Reserves. She is a wonderful model for the creative spirit that drives Knox, where students can lead and change Knox for the better.
