Chris Vogel was a 4-year starter at wide receiver for Knox and during that time re-wrote this school's pass receiving records.  Chris caught more passes, for more yards, and scored more touchdowns than any player in Knox history.  He set 11 game, season, and career records.  During the 1987 season he caught 78 passes for over 1,300 yards and scored 16 TDs.  Following the '87 season, he was consistently paid one of the highest compliments afforded any college athlete.  Opposing coaches began to regularly alter their defensive alignments to his side of the field in an effort to offset his outstanding individual skills.

During his career at Knox he was named an AP, Football News, and Pizza Hut Little All-American.  In 1988 Sports Illustrated identified Chris as the best Division III football player in the state.  He was twice selected as a first team all-conference receiver.  He truly had the ability to dominate a game on offense.  His coach, Randy Oberembt, called him the best wide receiver he had ever seen on the Division III level.  "He is," said Oberembt, "physically the most gifted athlete I have coached at Knox.

Chris also lettered in track three times.  He ran the 100 and 200 meter dash and was a member of the mile relay team.  He was president of the K-Club, senior class treasurer, and active in intramurals.

Chris continued playing football following his graduation from Knox in 1990.  He played semi-pro ball for the DuPage Eagles and was named the league's Rookie of the Year.
