Megan N. Owens finished her Knox career with 49 goals, 17 assists in soccer, and 115 points in track and field. She graduated from Knox in 2001, with a biology major. As a senior, the four year soccer letter winner tied for the second most goals scored in NCAA Division III history when she scored seven goals against Mac Murray College. Megan also holds the record for second all-time leading scorer in Knox history with 49 goals.
As a member of the soccer team, Megan was named to the all-conference first team in 1999, as well as being named the team’s most valuable player. Megan served as a soccer captain in 1999 and in 2000. In addition, she was the recipient of the Jorge Prats Soccer Award and was selected the female athlete of the year in both 2000 and 2001.
In track and field, Megan led the team in points her first year, sophomore, and junior years. She was also named the indoor track MVP. In 2002 indoor track, she posted a time of 59.31s in the 400 meter dash, which was a Division III National qualifying time. During her time at Knox Megan collected 10 letters and earned all academic and all conference honors.
After Knox, Megan went on to earn a masters degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. She currently teaches biology and earth science at Geneva High School in Geneva, Illinois, and coaches boys and girls soccer.
