Michael Morin is no stranger to success.  Before graduating from Knox College in 1960, he earned eight letters: three in football, three in track, and two in basketball.  During his college days he was also actively involved in extra-curricular activities.  He was a member of “K” Club, Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, the Inter-Fraternity Council, National Society of Scabbard and Blade, and Friars.

His accomplishments as a member of the Knox track team were truly remarkable.  He competed in six different events.  He ran in the low hurdles, high hurdles, and 100 yard dash, and also threw the javelin, shot put, and discus.  He amassed the remarkable total of 315 points for the Siwash track team during his three varsity seasons.
Illness kept him from playing basketball during his sophomore year.  However, he lettered in basketball during his junior and senior years on Coach Frank Adams’ 1958, 1959, and 1960.  Mike was a regular on Siwash football teams in 1958, 1959, and 1960; a powerful running back on offense and a fierce tackler on defense.  His prowess on the gridiron attracted the attention of pro scouts in the NFL and in the spring of his senior year he was signed by the then St. Louis Cardinals to a professional contract.  Mike has gone on to distinguished military career after leaving Knox.  He was awarded a Master’s degree in the international affairs from George Washington University He is also a distinguished graduate from the Naval command and Staff College at Newport, Rhode Island.

Currently he is an Associate Professor of Doctrine at the United States Army War College, a position he has held for the past eleven years.  Mike has always been actively involved in his community working with the Boy Scouts, the PTA, youth football and soccer, and in a variety of church related activities.  I’m honored to present to you Michael J. Morin as an inductee to the 1994 Knox-Lombard Athletic Hall of Fame.
