Ralph was a graduate of Galesburg High School where he was selected to the school’s all-time basketball team in 1952. His athletic career at Knox was confined to 2 sports. Ralph earned the varsity letter all four years in both basketball and baseball. He captained the baseball team his senior year. Having earned 2 K’s in his third year, Ralph was declared the winner of the Hunter Trophy. HE also received a Faculty Medal for combined athletic ability and scholastic excellence in his senior year.
Following his graduation from Knox in 1923, Ralph was employed at the Boss Manufacturing Company of Kewanee, the world’s largest manufacturer of work gloves and mittens. He remained with the firm for 46 years until his retirement as Executive Vice-President in 1969. During his employment at Boss, he became a well-known athletic official in Illinois in both high school and college basketball.
Ralph Albro passed away September 2, 1982. His family consists of his widow Astrid Vedell, a Lombard graduate of 1923 who presently lives in Tampa, Florida. There are 2 daughters-Anita, a 1953 Knox graduate, and Jean
