Raymond Charles was managing director at Shearson Lehman/American Express, Inc., from 1981 until his retirement in 1985. He joined Shearson following 26 years as a corporate finance executive with Prudential Insurance Company. The Knoxville, Illinois, native was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated summa cum laude from Knox. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. Charles won five varsity letters in three sports: three in football and one each in basketball and track. Charles received the Hunter Trophy for high school scholarship and athletic achievement, as well as honors in mathematics and accounting. In 1965, he was a Sport’s Illustrated Silver Anniversary All-American. He has been Trustee of Knox College since 1966 and currently resides in Morristown, New Jersey.
