This 1976 graduate, a native of East St. Louis, proved to be an extremely talented and versatile athlete at Knox, lettering four times in football, twice in track, and twice in baseball.
Rick Truttman achieved his greatest success, however, in the game of football. During his senior year he served as captain of the team, was elected most valuable senior, and most valuable offensive player. Rick was elected, after his freshman year, to the All- Midwest Conference team, and throughout his career set an array of records including most career rushing attempts, career rushing yards, career touchdowns, and the longest run from scrimmage.
As a student at Knox his athletic accomplishments were recognized when he received the Tom Dean Award, the Dean Trevor Award, and the Hilding Prize. Away from the athletic fields, he served on the Interfraternity Council, was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, and was a K-Club officer.
After graduating from Knox, Rick received an M.B.A degree from Southern Illinois University and today resides in Smithton, Illinois where he is a product manager for Raskas Company.
Beyond the academic and athletic accomplishments, Rick became for many of his teammates a role model; a man successful in every aspect of his life; a fierce competitor; a fine student and loyal friend.
