“Rody” Lamb earned his B.S. degree at Lombard College in 1925. It was here that he experienced an outstanding athletic career. Rody is one of the only 2 Lombard athletes to receive 16 letters, the other being Evar Swanson.
In football, Lamb was acclaimed the best quarterback in Ilinois College circles by many sports writers. He received honors as a quarterback for 4 years on the All-Western and All-State teams, besides being recognized on the All-American Honorable Mention squad.
In basketball Rody played a guard position. He was accorded All-State and all-Western honors for his guard playing.
In track he participated on the Medley Relay team and took part in the Kansas and Illinois Relays.
Rody played third base on the baseball team all 4 years. He was a member of the State Champion Team.
Following his graduation from Lombard, Rody played pro-football with the Chicago Cardinals, as well as with the Rock Island Independents of the National Football League. He briefly became involved in the real estate business. He coached at the Oregon State University for a time. IN the city of Corvallis, the Oregon Rody has served his community with participation as President of the Corvallis Country Club, President of the Corvallis Town Club and commander of the American Legion Post #37.
In 1975 Rody was presented with a Scroll of Honor by the Knox-Lombard Fifty Year Club, in recognition of his work as Oregon State Coach.
Rody who presently lives in Corvallis, Oregon still keeps active supervising and administering the high school football games that take place at the stadium in Corvallis.
Rody’s family consists of Rowena, his wife, one son and one daughter.
