The impact Tiffany Felde would have on women’s athlete at Knox was evident early in her career. As a first year student she received an invitation to compete in the National Golf Coaches Association Women’s Golf Championships and was named First Team all-Conference in basketball. Tiffany’s success on the golf course during her first and sophomore years facilitated a positive start for Knox’s first-ever women’s golf team. She took individual medalist honors with an effort of 75 at the St. Ambrose Invitational, was named Most Valuable Player and placed 16th in the national tournament during her first season of golf at Knox. At the closing of the team’s inaugural season, Tiffany claimed the individual crown and the team took second place at the Knox Invitational. In both her sophomore and senior years, she was recognized as Most Valuable Player and brought home a championship from the conference tournament.
Then Knox basketball coach Amy Fort describes Tiffany as an athlete who has a “competitive drive and work ethic that is off the charts.” Her action on the court is remembered as “fearless,” as a player who gave her teammates a second chance with her hustle and rebounding. The team recognized this strength by naming Tiffany as a team Captain for three consecutive years. She earned the Most Valuable Player honor her first year and the Jill Zurawski Award for Most Valuable Team Member her sophomore and senior years. Her name appeared on All-Conference lists each of her four years at Knox. Tiffany ended her basketball career as first in all-time career free-throw percentage at .739 and third in all-time career points with a total of 893. In recognition of her many success and achievements, Tiffany received the Evelyn Bielefeldt Award which identifies the senior woman with the most outstanding athletic career. Currently, in her year marking the 5th year reunion for the Class of ’98, Tiffany is ranked sixth in career scoring and holds the second, set in 199-96, for season free-throw percentage at 85.7%.
Tiffany recently transferred to Chicago where she works as a manger for STA Travel, the world’s largest student travel organization. In July, she completed all exams and skill tests to obtain her license as a gold teaching professional, hoping to one day be employed as a director of junior golf in the Chicago area.
It is my pleasure to welcome into the Knox-Lombard Athlete Hall of fame Tiffany Felde, a standout in the history of women’s athletics at Knox.
