Galesburg, IL – The Prairie Fire had everything going in a 9-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan College on Saturday at Jorge Prats Field.

Knox (4-2) quickly rebounded from a 2-1 loss to Westminster College about 24 hours earlier with a lopsided contest that featured five different goal scorers.

The match was the first of the season for the Tigers (0-1) after their first two were cancelled.

Junior Ella Petersen (Wilmette, IL, Lake Forest Academy) struck a shot that sailed in the goal 7:50 into the match for a 1-0 Knox lead.

Sophomore Madison Dana (Lafayette, CO, New Vista) doubled the advantage to 2-0 with her first goal of the game at the 18:52 mark.  Petersen and Dana would alternate goals again at 20:10 and 38:00, respectively, to give the Prairie Fire a 4-0 lead at the break.

Dana logged her third goal of the match for the hat-trick at 55:06 before senior Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's), who started in goal for Knox, followed with a pair of goals.  Koene connected on her first score at the 70:51 mark and added her second about three minutes later to balloon the Prairie Fire lead to 7-0.

Sophomore Sam Watkins (Des Moines, IA, Roosevelt) made it an 8-0 advantage for Knox with a shot from long range at 76:57.  Junior Delsey Ramirez (Highland Park, IL, Highland Park) joined the offensive outburst with the final goal of the match with less than five minutes to play.

The Prairie Fire outshot Iowa Wesleyan 24-10 overall.  Koene and first-year Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge) combined for the shutout after each played 45:00 in goal.
