A sophomore, Rainey-Brown displayed his versatility by competing in four events at the Midwest Conference indoor track and field championships hosted by Grinnell College on February 27 and 28.ย

In one of the races Rainey-Brown helped the 4x200 meter relay team score with a sixth place finish in a season-best time of 1:37.22. ย He
ย was also on the 4x400 meter relay team and he ran a leg on the distance medley relay team that preliminarily placed fourth in 11:05.03, which ranked as the #8 fastest Knox indoor DMR time on record.ย  However, meet officials contended that one or more teams ran an extra lap and the coaches voted to not count the race.

Rainey-Brown was a contender in the 400 meter race as well.ย  He finished the season with two new Knox all-time top 10 times โ€“ in the 400 meters (#9 individual) and the 4x400 relay (#10).ย
