Knox College Prairie Fire

Alex Faulkner (Peoria, IL, Richwoods) took first place in the 184 pound bracket at the University of Dubuque’s Jim Fox Open. He pinned three opponents along the way and was one of four Knox wrestlers to place in the top six.

Faulkner began with a first round bye. He defeated Mike Knutson of Mankato State University (NCAA Division II) by pinning him in 2:48 in the quarterfinals.

Faulkner made even shorter work of his semifinal round opponent, Nathan Criston of host University of Dubuque, by pinning him in 1:00. Faulkner took command early in his finals match and dominated Brandon Pederson of Mankato State, pinning him in 1:42.

Faulkner won all three of his matches by first period pins. He spent a total of 5:30 on the mat the entire day.

The Prairie Fire next wrestles at home on January 7 in the annual Chuck Porter Duals. The competition begins at 9:00 a.m. in T. Fleming Fieldhouse.
