Knox College Prairie Fire

Ruzgas is the latest Prairie Fire Performer of the Week after he won five of the six matches he played last weekend at the Principia College Invitational in Elsah, Illinois.

He posted a 2-1 record at #4 singles and teamed up with fellow first-year player Walter Palmer to win all three of their #2 doubles matches for a 5-1 overall record.

Ruzgas and Palmer took the overall #2 doubles tournament title with victories against doubles teams from host Principia College, Greenville College, and NCAA Division II Quincy University.

Ruzgas won singles matches against Quincy’s Dan Martin 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 and Greenville’s Alex Dowley 6-2, 6-1.  His only loss of the tournament was in singles play against Principia’s Nate Waters 4-6, 6-2, 1-10.

A much improved Prairie Fire squad won both the #2 and #3 doubles competition at the tournament as well as #4 and #7 singles.
