Knox College Prairie Fire

Wagner had a remarkable day at the Northern Wrestling Association Tournament on February 18 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, winning a conference championship. 

The senior pinned all three of his three opponents in a little over 16:00 to take first place in the heavyweight division and earn the Prairie Fire Performer of the Week Award.

Wagner began his day by taking down Andrew Wagner of tournament host Lakeland College in 6:06 to advance to the semifinal round.  Next to fall was a nemesis of Wagner’s, Steven Nguyen of Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).  Wagner pinned Nguyen almost immediately into the second period, officially at the 3:08 mark, to move on to the title match.

Standing in the way of Wagner’s first conference championship was Austin Karls of MSOE.  Wagner won in dramatic fashion.  With time running out he locked up a cradle, turned Karls on his back and pinned him.  The pin occurred at 6:52, or with eight seconds remaining.
