Puntoriero is the latest Prairie Fire Performer of the Week award winner after he posted a first place and two top five finishes in the Knox Open, the first meet of the outdoor track season at Turner Track at Trevor Field.
Puntoriero won the 200 meter run, an event he’s had a great deal of success in at Knox.
He owns the fifth and 10th fastest outdoor 200 meter times.
In addition, Puntoriero has the second fastest indoor time in the 200 and has established six other all-time top 10 marks in the event.
Besides winning the 200 meter race, Puntoriero placed third in the long jump for the Prairie Fire. He’s associated with two all-time top 10 marks in the long jump as well.
Puntoriero teamed up with sophomores Matt Brongo (Eureka, IL, Eureka) and Max Potthoff (Western Springs, IL, Lyons Township), and senior Kevin Box (Naperville, IL, Naperville North), to place fourth in the 4x400 meter relay at the Knox Open. Puntoriero ran the fastest split on the relay team.
