Stuebi won the individual title at the 2012 Midwest Conference Men’s Golf Championship May 3-5 at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford.
Stuebi, who led the individual field of golfers from beginning to end, finished four strokes ahead of runner-up Cody Neu of Grinnell College. He improved his score in each round of the tournament.
Stuebi opened with a 75 on the first day. He followed with a 74 in round two for a two stroke lead going into the final round. Stuebi locked up the conference championship by carding an even-par 72 in round three, matching the lowest 18 hole score of the tournament.
Stuebi’s score of 222 over three rounds tied the lowest 54 hole score by an individual champion. Illinois College's Mark Strain set the current all-time tournament low when he shot a 222 in 2009.
Stuebi helped the Prairie Fire finish fourth in the team standings and contributed to one of the lowest scoring tournaments by the top five teams in the history of the Midwest Conference Men's Golf Championship.
Carroll University, which shot a 925 to win the team title for the second straight year, set a new tournament low score for 54 holes by a team champion. The previous low was 934 by Monmouth College in both 2007 and 2010.
The Prairie Fire finished down a spot in this year's tournament despite a score of 951, which was 27 strokes lower than 2011. The team placed third last year with a score of 978.
Stuebi medaled all four years of his golf career at Knox, a rare achievement.
He shot a 237 in the 2011 championships and tied for fourth place with fellow senior and teammate Jamie Jang. Stuebi shot a 236 his sophomore year in 2010, earning him a seventh place medal. He recorded his second lowest score of 233 in the 2009 MWC Championship as a first-year golfer and finished sixth.
Stuebi is Knox's first individual conference champion since 2008, when David Marquardt accomplished the feat after shooting a 224.
