Knox College Prairie Fire

Senior Mike Schroeder is the first Prairie Fire Performer of the Week recipient of the 2012-2013 athletic year. 

A running back and kick returner, Schroeder was also named on September 4 the Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week for his 225 kickoff return yards on August 31 against Eureka College.

The kick return yardage by Schroeder, which included a 79-yard touchdown late in the first half, set a new school record.  The previous all-time high was 149 yards by Dan Kizior against IC during the 2009 season.  Schroeder also set a second new Knox football record with his nine kickoff returns in the game against the Red Devils. 

Schroeder had a total of 232 all-purpose yards, which ties him for sixth all-time.  In addition, he made two big tackles on special teams that resulted in Eureka starting drives inside their own 20 yard line.
