Knox College Prairie Fire

Mortensen had a career day against Cornell College on October 13 to earn the Prairie Fire Performer of the Week Award.

He had 37 carries for 232 yards and three touchdowns.  The 232 yards on the ground is a career-high for Mortensen and ranks as the fifth-most rushing yards in a game in Knox football history.  Only 11 other times has a player rushed for 200 or more yards for Knox, while Mortensen’s 37 carries against the Rams is tied for #4 all-time.

Mortensen’s 232-yard effort is the second-most in the Midwest Conference this season.  His 37 carries are the most in the league to date.  He also leads the conference with 810 yards rushing, is tied for second with seven touchdowns, and he ranks second in the conference with an average of 115.7 yards per game.

In addition, Mortensen is in the top 10 in the MWC in scoring (42 points, 6.0 points per game) and all-purpose yards (117.3 per game).

The Prairie Fire welcomes Illinois College to the Knosher Bowl on October 20 at 1:00 p.m. for the 2012 Homecoming game.  Knox is seeking its first win over IC since the 2005 season, a 14-0 victory at England Field in Jacksonville.
