Trailing at Lawrence in the middle of the third quarter, 14-7, Clay McClelland was summoned to take over the signal-calling duties with the team deep in the red zone when the starting quarterback went down with an injury. Three plays later, the score was tied. After an interception, the native of Charlestown, Indiana, kept the ball on all three plays, the third resulting in the go-ahead touchdown. And before the quarter had expired, he had led the Prairie Fire on a 49-yard touchdown drive as well. In the fourth quarter, he broke free for a 50-yard touchdown run, which became crucial when Knox held on for the 35-34 victory. In all, McClelland ran 16 times for a season-high 116 yards, his second 100-yard game of the season.
