Lance Miller, a distance runner from Mascoutah, Illinois, continued his terrific junior campaign by earning this award for the fifth time this academic year — twice during cross country season and twice for indoor track and field. This honor comes for winning the men’s 1,500 meter race at the chilly Viking Olympics hosted by Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday with a time of 4:02.09, little more than a third of a second ahead of the next runner to cross the tape. In addition, he ran the third leg for the Prairie Fire 4x400 meter relay team that placed fourth in 3:38.19.
