Hailing from Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Nicholas Nitti was a force at the plate for the Prairie Fire, helping them win two of three at Monmouth, the team's first series victory over the Fighting Scots in eight years. The designated hitter went 7-for-13 (.538) in the three games and saved his best for last after the rivals had split the doubleheader on Saturday. Nitti had four hits, including two doubles and his first career homer, scored three runs and drove in three. Twice he broke a tie score, the second time for good in the eighth inning as Knox went on to win, 10-9.
