Junior
Jackson White (Grayslake, IL, Grayslake Central) played a big role in the Prairie Fire's
2-1 victory against MacMurray College on March 7 in Jacksonville, Illinois.
He is the latest recipient of the Prairie Fire Performer of the Week award for his efforts on the field.
A two-time
All-Midwest Conference selection, White reached base four times and scored both Knox runs in the season-opening game against the Highlanders.
White had a solid day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a walk.
His third hit was a lead-off single in the top of the eighth inning, when the Prairie Fire snapped a 1-1 tie.
White scored the deciding run on a ground ball off the bat of senior
Ryan Hoffman (Sugar Grove, IL, Marmion Academy) to the right side of the infield with one out.
White and his teammates leave for Fort Myers, Florida on March 18 to participate in the
Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
Knox plays seven games against six opponents between March 19 and 24. The first game for the Prairie Fire in the Sunshine State is against Johns Hopkins University on March 19 at 10:00 a.m.
Knox also square off against Nichols College (MA), Southern Vermont College, Lawrence University, University of Wisconsin-Stout, and Otterbein University (OH) in Florida.
