Knox College Prairie Fire

In his three appearances against the Pioneers, including one in which he got his team out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth inning to preserve the win, Armstrong pitched 5 2/3 innings of shutout relief and allowed just two hits with one strikeout and no walks. 

The wins against Grinnell vaulted the Prairie Fire into first place tie with Illinois College in the MWC South.  Both teams are 3-1 in the division.

Armstrong is one of the reasons Knox (10-5) is on a roll right now with wins in three straight games and seven of the last eight.  The latest Prairie Fire victory was a 7-3 triumph at Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday that snapped the Titans’ 10-game winning streak.

Armstrong has a 2-0 record with five saves and he’s not allowed an earned run in 13 1/3 innings pitched.  The right-handed hurler has appeared in nine games -- the most on the staff -- and surrendered nine hits and no walks while striking out eight.  The opposition is batting just .196 against him.
