Knox College Prairie Fire

Smoy helped lead the Prairie Fire to four wins in five games last week, including back-to-back doubleheader sweeps of rival Monmouth College. 

Knox won the first two games at home on April 20 and then exploded for 28 runs in a pair of road victories against the Fighting Scots on April 21.  Smoy was a major contributor in the wins and he’s been named the Prairie Fire Performer of the Week.

The highlight for the junior outfielder was a 5-for-10 performance at the plate, including a grand slam, with eight runs batted and two runs scored during the 10-2 and 18-7 MWC South triumphs by Knox at Monmouth College.  He was 3-for-7 with one RBI and scored two runs in the two games won by the Fire against the Scots at Blodgett Field.

Knox has defeated Monmouth 10 straight times on the baseball diamond dating back to the 2011 season. 

Smoy, who has an 11-game hitting streak, had 10 hits in 22 at bats (.455 average) with one home run, 11 RBIs, and four runs scored in five games last week.  He’s ranked in the top five in the Midwest Conference in hits (36) and runs batted in (29), and his .383 batting average is seventh in the league.
