Knox College Prairie Fire

Willits, a two-time All-Midwest Conference offensive tackle and four-year starter recorded seven pancakes and, along with his fellow offensive linemen, had a big day as the Prairie Fire rushed for 278 yards and defeated Beloit College 31-21 on the road October 12.

The 278 yards rushing, along with three touchdowns and a per carry average of nearly 5.3 yards, were all season-highs for the offense.  Two players also surpassed 100 yards on the ground against the Buccaneers, only the 13th time in the history of the football program that's happened.

Sophomore quarterback Luke Oosterbaan (Palos Heights, IL, Marist) rushed for a career-high 131 yards (tied for #4 all-time in a game by a quarterback) and two touchdowns (tied for #2 all-time in a game by a quarterback).  Senior tailback Derek Mortensen (Crystal Lake, IL, Crystal Lake South) ran for 114 yards and a score, the 15th time in his career he's topped 100 yards rushing (all-time leader) and the fifth time in six games this season.

Willits and the offensive line will try to continue their success in the Homecoming game against Cornell College (3-2, 3-1 MWC) on Saturday at 1:00.
