Moreno helped lead the Prairie Fire to a sixth place finish at the 2013 Midwest Conference Cross Country Championships on November 2 in Grinnell, Iowa.
Knox finished ahead of Lake Forest College (seventh), Beloit College (eighth), Illinois College (ninth), Ripon College (10th), and Monmouth College (11th) in the team standings.
Moreno achieved the best individual placement at a conference championship meet in his career when he crossed the finish line of the 8K race seventh overall in a time of 26:32.30. He earned All-Midwest Conference honors for the third consecutive year – and his second top 10 placement – after placing 10th last season and 12th in 2011.
Moreno entered the conference championships on a roll, finishing first in the final two regular season races hosted by Millikin University on October 5 and Illinois College on October 12. His 8K time of 25:55.96 at the Illinois College Invitational established a new career-best and ranks #6 all-time on the all-time top 25 men's cross country performance list.
Moreno also has the fifth-fastest time in the 8K by a Midwest Conference runner this season.
Next is the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional hosted by Augustana College on November 16. The race, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., will be run at Saukee Golf Course (38th Street and 31st Avenue) in Rock Island.
