Knox College Prairie Fire

Surprenant won a pair of matches in the 184 pound division to help Knox win the fourth place match against Calumet College of St. Joseph in the ninth annual Chuck Porter Duals on January 5.

After falling to #8 ranked Riley Lefever of #10 Wabash College in his opening match, Surprenant responded in a big way by defeating Vinnie Pizzo of North Central College by technical fall, 16-1, in the third period.

Surprenant then squared off against Justin Kreiter of #12 Luther College in the third round.  The two locked up in a tight match that went into overtime and saw Kreiter come away with a 7-5 decision.

Surprenant helped put the Prairie Fire over the top in the fourth place match against NAIA Calumet by scoring a 9-0 major decision win against Dennie Brown in a 34-17 Knox victory.

Surprenant is a three-time placewinner so far this season and leads the Prairie Fire with 13 wins.
