The second-leading scorer for Knox and one of the top shooters in the Midwest Conference, Heckman had a solid all-around game in an
86-75 victory at Lawrence University on January 25. The win enabled Knox to avenge a heartbreaking 93-92 loss against the Vikings on December 14 at Memorial Gym.
A co-captain for the Fire, Heckman scored 12 points – including two 3-point baskets and 4-of-4 shooting from the foul line – in the triumph at LU. She reached double-figure points in 11 consecutive games.
Along with her scoring, Heckman led Knox with seven rebounds and five assists while adding two steals.
Heckman began this week averaging 13.1 points per game, but that jumps to 14.9 in Midwest Conference games and ranks #9 among the MWC scoring leaders. She's #4 in the conference with 29 baskets from 3-point range, including 23 triples against league opponents for a #2 MWC ranking.
In addition, Heckman has been virtually lights out at the free throw line, sinking 87.5 percent of her foul shots (#2 MWC) and 88 percent in conference games to lead all players. She also tops the Prairie Fire with 40 assists.
Heckman and her teammates visit Midwest Conference co-leader St. Norbert College on Saturday.
