Weitendorf is off to a hot start and helped the Prairie Fire win four games over spring break in Fort Myers, Florida.
The first-year infielder had three hits, including a run-scoring double and an RBI single, in a 13-12 victory over Plattsburgh State in Knox's last game in Florida on March 23. He batted .348 with eight hits, three of them doubles, five RBI, six runs scored, and three walks on the trip.
Weitendorf has at least one hit in six of the nine games he's appeared in so far this season. He's also driven in a run in five games and struck out only once in 23 at-bats in Florida.
Weitendorf is third on the team among regular starters with his .357 average. He also has one home run, seven runs batted in, and a .394 on base percentage. Weitendorf leads the team in slugging percentage (.607) and total bases (17), and shares the lead in hits (10). He has been strong defensively as well with no errors in 60 chances.
