Gabe Moreno '14
Three runners for the Prairie Fire men's team and one from the women's squad finished in the top 20 October 7 at the Titan Invitational in Normal, Illinois.
Sophomore Gabe Moreno (Galesburg, Illinois) finished second overall in the 8K race with his time of 27:17.19.
Senior Kevin Box (Naperville, Illinois) followed Moreno in third place in 27:21.46, narrowly missing his career-best time of 27:16. Junior Sean Choate (Chicago, Illinois) also ran well, placing 18th overall in a time of 28:53.49.
The Prairie Fire men finished third out of six in the team standings behind the University of Illinois and Lincoln College.
The Knox women's team was led by senior Emma Swanson (West Des Moines, Iowa). She was 13th in the 5K, completing the race in 21:32.80.

Two first-year Prairie Fire runners finished in the top 30. Melanie Kovacs (Buffalo Grove, Illinois) was 23rd in 22:23.29 and Esmeralda Alvarez placed 30th in 23:11.15.
The Knox women's team finished fourth in the team standings. Host Illinois Wesleyan placed first.
Coach Dan Zierfuss says he was pleased with how his teams ran on a very challenging course, Maxwell Park, and in the warm weather.
The cross country teams are back on the course October 15 at the Illinois College Invitational in Jacksonville, Illinois.
