Goal by Tchopya sends match into OT

Mount Vernon, IA – The Prairie Fire kept Cornell College winless on the season but had to settle for a tie in the process.

Knox (5-4-2, 1-2-2 MWC) and Cornell (0-11-1, 0-5-1 MWC) played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime on October 6.  The Prairie Fire earned a point in the Midwest Conference standings, their fifth of the season. 

The Rams took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Alex Solano at the 28:15 mark of the match.  Knox answered back and tied the match at 1-1 to ultimately force overtime.  Senior Donald Tchopya (San Francisco, CA, Galileo Academy of Science and Technology) sent a shot past Cornell goalie Jordan Setser at 64:28 for his fifth goal of the season.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net during the remaining 45:32 of the match. 

The Prairie Fire outshot the Rams 19-12 overall and 7-2 on goal.  Setser had six saves for the hosts while first-year net minder Sean McGovern (Chicago, IL, Niles Notre Dame) had one for Knox.

The Prairie Fire are scheduled to play again on October 10 at 4:00 p.m. against Millikin University (3-9) in Decatur.  The Big Blue have lost five straight.  Millikin has played at home just three times so far this season (1-2).
