GALESBURG, Illinois – The Prairie Fire held off a feisty effort by Beloit College with a goal in overtime for a 1-0 Midwest Conference victory on Sunday at Jorge Prats Field.
Knox (12-2, 7-0 MWC) dominated the attack, firing off 44 shots in the match. After several close calls, junior
Nathaniel Logie (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Queens Royal College) kicked in the game-winner off an assist by sophomore
Jacob Ly (Beavercreek, OH, Beavercreek) at the 97:29 mark.
The top scorer in the Midwest Conference, Logie has 11 goals this season – five of them game-winners – including two this weekend.
The win is the 11th straight for Knox, tying a school record set last season between September 4 and October 5. The Prairie Fire improved to 6-0 at home and have qualified for the Midwest Conference tournament for the second straight year.

Sean Dockrell (Dublin, Ireland, San Bernadino CC), had four saves in recording his fourth straight shutout and eighth overall – which is tops in the MWC. The Buccaneers (2-12, 2-5 MWC) finished with eight total shots.
The Prairie Fire have 21 conference points, four more than second place Lake Forest College (6-8-2, 5-2-2 MWC). Carroll University (7-6-2, 5-1-1 MWC) and Monmouth College (7-8-1, 5-2-1 MWC) are next in the team standings with 16 points.
The Prairie Fire host St. Norbert College on Saturday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. Knox is seeking its first win over the Green Knights (9-2-3, 3-1-3 MWC) since September of 2000 and to move closer to claiming the Midwest Conference regular season title. The regular season league champion will host the MWC tournament.
