GALESBURG, Illinois—Knox kicked off its weekend of matchups with MWC North opponents dropping a doubleheader to Lawrence University.
Knox (0-28, 0-14 MWC), dropped game one 13-3 in five innings and game two 18-5 again in five innings.

An early run by Lawrence was matched by Knox when
Chelsey Howard (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) doubled to score
Kristen Koviekis (Tinley Park, IL, Lincoln-Way North). The Fire then took the lead on the next play when
Alannah Sanchez (Espanola, NM, McCurdy) forced an error that allowed
Kaly Davidson (Needham, MA, Needham) to score. The second inning went without any runs crossing the plate for either side. Lawrence then went to score four runs in each of the next three innings with Knox only manufacturing one run to answer with. The game ended in five innings with a score of 13-3. Howard, Koviekis and
Dominique Scott (Oak Park, IL, Oak Park & River Forest) were the only members of the Fire lineup to record a hit.

Game two saw seven total runs in the first inning, with Lawrence starting hot scoring 4 and Knox answering with three of their own. Lawrence, however, came back even stronger in the second inning scoring 5 runs and Knox mustering 2 to answer with. Lawrence added another run in the third and Knox went scoreless. Lawrence then plated 8 in the top of the fourth to reach the eventual final score of 18-5 after five innings. Howard drove in three runs on a 2-3 day, Davidson matched her 2-3 performance with two RBIs and one run scored, and Koviekis went 1-3 and scored a run.

Day two of the weekend saw both games of a doubleheader dropped against St. Norbert. Knox scored a run in the first inning, however the Fire gave up 20 runs on the way to a 20-1 final score in five innings.
Emily Stevenson (Tinley Park, IL, Andrew) was the only player to record a hit for the Fire.

Game two was a great game but Knox coming out on the wrong end of a 9-7 game. Knox shut out the Knights in the first inning and took an early lead with a run batted in off the bat of Koviekis to score Scott. St. Norbert jumped on top in the second inning scoring two runs but Knox answered big with 6 runs in the bottom of the second. Four of those runs came off a 3 run home run from Davidson followed by a solo shot from Howard. Koviekis doubled for the second time, driving in two more runs as well. The Knights then made it much more interesting bringing it back to 7-6 by scoring 4 in the third inning. The game then remained scoreless until the top of the seventh when St. Norbert took the lead 9-7.

Knox will be back in action on April 26 when they take the field at home for a doubleheader against Beloit College.
