Men's Soccer Improves to 4-0 in MWC

GALESBURG, Illinois— The Prairie Fire men's soccer team remained undefeated in the Midwest Conference with a 2-0 victory over Grinnell College. Knox (9-2-3, 4-0 MWC) had the game sealed up by halftime in this match, taking their 2-0 into the second half of the game and never looking back.

The Fire were able to take a lead just a few minutes into the game when Erick Karkut netted a penalty kick goal for his seventh of the season. About halfway through the first half, Karkut then facilitated the second goal of the match when he found Jun Min off a cross for a header. The Fire defense also came to play in this match, allowing only four shots on goal. They were all collected safely by keeper Justin Dunn.

"Really proud of our performance today with both sides battling very poor field conditions.  Grinnell keeps coming and that's certainly a reflection of Coach Jaws and the good group of players he has," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "In the end the game felt closer than 2-0, but we executed two plays and fought for one another to protect our lead."

Knox will look to continue winning when they travel to Lake Forest College on October 14.
