MT. VERNON, Iowa—The Prairie Fire baseball team split a doubleheader with Cornell on Sunday.
Knox (6-5, 1-1 MWC) and Cornell both received great pitching performances with a 2-0 win for Knox and a 2-1 victory for Cornell.
Ryan Weitendorf (New Lenox, IL, Lincoln-Way East) provided the offense in the first game with a two-run home-run in the top of the 8
th inning. 
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) went 3-for-7 on the day with a double to lead the Prairie Fire. Sykes and 
Juston Woodard (Oak Lawn, IL, Mount Carmel) each added a double as well.
Alec Jordan (Spring Grove, IL, Richmond-Burton) pitched a shutout in game one to earn the win. He struck out 12 batters and only allowed four hits to move to 4-1 on the season. 
Logan Thake (Amboy, IL, Amboy) gave up just one run on four hits in the second game, but left with a no decision.
Knox returns home to finish up the series with Cornell on April 4.
