MAUSTON, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire baseball team fell in two hotly contested games in the MWC crossover on Sunday.

Knox (11-14, 4-8 MWC) and Beloit played a close ball game tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the eighth inning. Beloit scored two runs to take the lead and the Prairie Fire came within inches of tying the game up in the top of the ninth. In game two, Knox and Ripon went extra innings with the Prairie Fire taking the lead in the top of the tenth inning. Ripon scored twice for a walk-off victory.

Paul Sanders (Rock Island, IL, Rock Island) had a huge day at the plate with six hits in nine at bats, including the game-tying RBI in game two.
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) added four hits in seven at bats.
Kobe Shutter (Kankakee, IL, Bishop McNamara),
Ryan Weitendorf (New Lenox, IL, Lincoln-Way East),
Tristan Hannah (Chicago, IL, Lindblom), and
Nick Van Witzenburg (Lake in the Hills, IL, Crystal Lake South) all picked up a pair of hits as well. Weitendorf belted a home-run, his 25
th career round-tripper.

Knox will host Illinois College on April 29.
