GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire baseball team swept a conference doubleheader with Illinois College on Tuesday.

Knox (13-14, 6-8 MWC) scored first in the first game and started to pull away with a four-run fifth inning and held on for a 6-2 win. In game two, Knox scored seven runs in the second and third innings to cruise to a mercy-rule 10-0 victory.

Alex Bell (Elgin, IL, Burlington Central) had five hits in six at bats to lead the Prairie Fire. He drove in two runs.
Matt McCaffrey (Wilmette, IL, New Trier) added four hits and two RBI.
Ryan Weitendorf (New Lenox, IL, Lincoln-Way East) tallied three hits while
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg),
Andrew Recker (Huntingburg, IN, Southridge), and
Paul Sanders (Rock Island, IL, Rock Island) picked up two apiece.

Trevan Lowtharp (Rockford, IL, Winnebago) and
Stryker Davies (Glenrock, WY, Glenrock) each picked up their second win of the season. Lowtharp gave up two runs over eight innings with seven strikeouts in game one. Davies fired a complete game shutout in the shortened second game while striking out six.

Knox will travel to Jacksonville on May 3 to finish the four game series with Blueboys.
