MONMOUTH, Illinois—The Prairie Fire baseball team split at Monmouth on Sunday to win the series 3-1.

Knox (16-17, 9-11 MWC) fell behind early in game one and could not get much going at the plate in a 12-0 loss. The Fire rebounded in game two behind a strong pitching performance and a barrage of hits.

Dalton James (Homer, IL, Heritage) led the Prairie Fire with three hits while
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg),
Matt McCaffrey (Wilmette, IL, New Trier), and
Matt Mueller (Silex, MO, Silex) each added two apiece.
Juston Woodard (Oak Lawn, IL, Mount Carmel) picked up two RBI while James and McCaffrey each clubbed doubles.

Tom Janczur (Darien, IL, Downer's Grove South) earned the victory in game two giving up two runs over six innings.
Kobe Shutter (Kankakee, IL, Bishop McNamara) came on for his second save of the season to seal the game.

Knox will conclude their season on May 9 when they travel to East Peoria to battle Robert Morris-Peoria.
