Men's Soccer Faces Setback Against Elmhurst

GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team lost a close game to the Elmhurst Bluejays by a score of 0-1 in a Monday afternoon affair. The defense and offense were both up to par despite the tough loss. Knox dominated the game but could not quite get one past the goalie.

The Prairie Fire took 21 shots with 13 shots on goal, but the Elmhurst Bluejays countered with a nice game from their goalie who had 13 saves. Throughout the first 27:57 of the game Knox was very aggressive. During that span, Knox had three shots compared to just one by the visiting Elmhurst. That one shot would be a huge one as it was the only goal scored in the game. The remainder of the first half would be dictated by Knox who finished the first half with 10 shots. The Bluejays would not have a shot for the remainder of the first half.

The second half was a very aggressive one for the Prairie Fire. Multiple players in the second half were taking shots with a hope to score. Jun Min and Joey Dorgan would try valiantly to get Knox on the board as they each led the team with three shots on goal.  However, none would trickle past the Elmhurst goalie. The defense by Knox was impeccable as they didn't allow a single shot on goal in the second period of play.

"It was not our best performance," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "Elmhurst scored early and credit to them as they defended well and did not let us capitalize on our chances. We will get prepared for our last conference game this weekend."

The Prairie Fire next play Cornell College at home on October 27. It is also Senior Day for the men's soccer team, so come out and watch!
